Hey,

I want to set up a backup solution with Proxmox and tape drives. Unfortunately I have no real experience with tape drives.
PBS has it on the roadmap, but doesn't support it at the moment.
So what is the right way to set up this?

I think it would be something like:
- attach the SAS tape drive to the server
- passthrough drive to vm which is running any software for tape drives
- managing backups over this software

My questions are:
Will my tape drive get recognized form my server as an SCSI disk?
Can I passthrough any tape drive, or is there a compatibility list?
What happens if my drive is full, I think this is the job of my software?

Am I on the right path?

Thanks for help.
