New to linux and Proxmox, i searched and could not really find something that was clear to me. Maybe someone can point me at the right document so i can read up on how to restore my raw files.

I installed Proxmox 7.3-3 on a PC with 1 SSD and 1 HDD. The HDD is setup in LVM and contains all the VM's I had created. Unfortunately my SSD died and I had to replace it and reinstall Proxmox. Now, in the server view I can see my SSD and my HDD and if I select my HDD I can also see my vm's I had created in raw format. I want to restore those raw files, is that something that can be done?

Thanks to anybody that can point me towards some documentation.

Hi,
if you haven't done it already, you can re-add the storage to Proxmox VE in Datacenter > Storage > Add > LVM. If you have a backup of the VM configuration files, it should be enough to copy those back to /etc/pve/qemu-server/. Otherwise, I'm afraid you need to recreate them from memory. For example, create VMs with the same ID without any disks attached, use qm rescan --vmid <ID> (this should add the disks from the LVM as unused disks to the configuration) and then attach the disks to the VM (in the UI, select unused disk in the VM's hardware tab and click Edit).

@fiona Thank you, I will try it out, I did not have a backup yet since I was just playing with it on old hardware and SSD died after a few days.
