I have a 3 (S1, S2, S3) node CEPH cluster running plenty VMs and CTS.
At the moment I have a 4th server (S4/50TB) running baremetal TrueNAS which provides NFS share for the whole cluster for backups.
I also run Media server in a CT that uses S4 for data storage (no backups for media storage CT).
I am upgrading my TruesNAS server with a better 2U (lets call it S5) system and I dont want to waste it as pure NAS. I can move all my non-HA, non-backed up applications to this new server and leave my cluster running only HA stuff with replication/backup on CEPH.
I was thinking of loading PVE on S5 to run media server, nextcloud etc and then also run PBS in a CT so S5 provides storage to my S1/S2/S3 cluster.
Is this a good idea or should I continue with TrueNAS? Will this hammer the backup process in any ways?
