Seems that S3610 is EOL.
intel told me that the proper replacement is S4600.

I don't agree too much, because S3610 is MLC with high-endurance, 3.3DWPD,
S4600 doesn't have that endurance and is TLC

What is strange is that writes IOPS for S3610 are about 20.000, but on the
S4600 are near 60.000.

On Samsung side, SM863 was about the same as S3610, but the newer model
SM863a, has much lower IOPS: 18.000 vs 28.000

What is happening and would you use for critical data ?
Why newer model are worse than the older ones ? Samsung is still saying
3.3DWPD even on newer model, but IOPS are much low than the previous
generation (or the previous Intel generation)

Do you need this for a storage drive or a cache drive? If its for storage on a SATA backplane, I would say the S3710 is the closer model.

Samsung seems to have a slightly better price point with MLC and faster IOPS on the SM863a. Use their comparison chart on this page:
http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/ssd/enterprise-ssd/ select 2.5" 6gb sata.

For caching, you might switch up to a card like the Optane 900p, while it is not aimed at the data center market, it sure does fit well above the S3610.

It has no cache, so no need for PLP, and the 280gb model is rated for 5.11PBW, and 5 year warranty, that works out to 10 DWPD.

500,000 IOPS is much better than 60,000 ;)

I'm not sure where you have those data from, but I downloaded Intel spec sheet, and it says 3DWPD for both S3610 and S4600. Concerning NANDs, there has been big progress over last years. I'd say today's top 3d-TLC is quite comparable to 4 years old HE/MLC. So imho yes, S4600 can be considered as proper replacement for S3610...

Storage.
I think that S3710 is still EOL, because is the same "family" of S3610

SM863a is slower (referred to IOPS) than SM863 (previous gen)

Thank you.
I've looked here: https://ark.intel.com/products/120522/Intel-SSD-DC-S4600-Series-480GB-2_5in-SATA-6Gbs-3D1-TLC and no DWPD is wrote :)

So, this S4600 could be safely used as replacement for S3610, with the advantace that this has 3 times the IOPS than S3610

And what about Samsung Vs Intel ? Are Intel more reliable (they are, more or less, the industry standard). Probably, one of the Samsung advantage is that the whole SSD is made by samsung, components by components (and made in Korea and not China)
