[SOLVED] Renaming node ambiguity in documentation

Hi Everyone,

In the documentation https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Renaming_a_PVE_node there is a section that describes moving a node's /var/lib/rrdcached/db/pve2-node (and pve2-storage) sub-directory contents to the new hostname. However, I am unsure if it also needs rrdcached/db/pve#-* to be changed from pve2 to say pve3.

Can the developers offer some guidance? Otherwise the changes to the sub-directories mentioned in the documentation were actually applied automatically on reboot (a new sub-directory was made in each folder with the new hostname and the old one was left intact).

the prefix pve2- should stay the same (I think it comes from the fact that it's the second version of the API). If you have a node called pve2 it might be a bit confusing, but the documentation does state where the new and old host names appear in the paths.

A new directory/file will be created for the renamed node with the new RRD stats. But copying the old ones doesn't happen automatically AFAIK, so you don't have the historical statistics for the node and its storages anymore. If you copy it now, you'll overwrite the new ones.
