Removed storage from the storage.cfg - Proxmox won't start

Hello,​

I accidentally removed several lines from the /etc/pve/storage.cfg file that defined the storage containing the Proxmox system itself (SD card). After reboot, the system fails to boot because it cannot find the boot device.
I can access the system via a root shell, but the storage.cfg file is mounted as read-only and cannot be modified. I still have the original configuration lines saved and can restore them.

Could you please advise:

• why the configuration under /etc/pve/ is in read-only mode,

• how to properly re-enable write access to this file,

• or what the recommended recovery procedure is in this situation?

That sounds entirely unrelated to me. This file is not necessary for booting. PVE also doesn't support SD Cards as far as I know. Please share systemctl status pve-cluster as well as the boot log/errors. Root shell is ambiguous too.
