Remote backup option needed

Hi,

Following the recent problems I've had with my main node crashing and then not restarting I need some sort of easy option for making remote backups of vzdump files.

I don't mind these being stored on the server whilst being created but I then need an easy solution to move these to a remote location so that if the node crashes and will not reboot correctly and have a way to restore the vzdump backup to another server.

I have 2 servers with a partition mounted via nfs from each server to the other. That way the vzdump files are stored automatically on the other node.

An other option would be to use rsync. This can also be automated.

just use the integrated backup GUI. you can mount an external server share (samba share, nfs) to your filesystem.

I mounted a windows file share on Proxmox VE via fstab to /mnt/backup

Then I used /mnt/backup as my backup destination. on the windows file server there is a tape drive for daily backup of these files. so I got every day a complete full backup of all VM´s to a tape.

I'm using a network mount as well... NFS from openfiler. Then using bacula on the remote system to put those dump files to tape.

Interestingly, I do see that the bacula file daemon is installed with proxmox, so that could be used as well. (cheers to bacula!)
