Relay access denied (inbound from outside) PMG v. 8.1

Just installed a PMG in a DMZ. Sitting between an internal Exchange Server on the internal network and the internet.

Went through the configuration and outbound emails work but inbound emails do not ! (and most of the posts about relay access denied that I have been able to find are all about outbound access).

The message tracker throws up this message:

I have been trying to figure out the problem. But do not seem to be able to figure out what the exact issue is.

When looking at the mail.log we see something like this:

Do anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be ?

did you put 'stuffdomain.com' into your relay domains? only mails will be accepted for domains that are entered there

Yeah we did, but we removed the entire config and recreated it which then worked. And I have not been able to figure out the difference. So we're good.
