Recovering VM definitions

I have a rather pressing issue: I had a bunch of VMs on a system where a new installation cluster join failed and instead of the new machine joining the original, the original appears to have joined the new and wiped out the existing VM definitions, etc.

I can see the VM disks in rpool/data as vm-100-disk0 etc and I can muddle on through recreating the VM definition except for adding the old disk to the new VMs.

"The internet" seems to suggest "qm disk import" is the answer but I suspect that is expecting to copy a non-rpool disk into rpool, which is not what I need.

Is a possible solution to modify qemu-server/nnn.conf files directly?

Hi everyone,

I’m a total rookie with Proxmox (hence the title) and in the process of creating a cluster and renaming the nodes I wiped out all of my VM’s that I had on the original node. I have been very careful and have not written anything to the disk since. All of the disk allocations still appears in the console so I guess what I really need help with is linking them to new virtual machines. Apologies for rambling. Thank you for any help.
