recover volume from ZFS

Hello,

I am relatively new to Proxmox and server hosting, so I made a careless mistake. In an attempt to back up, delete, and restore an LXC to reduce volume size, I forgot that I had turned off backup for one 6 TB volume. I immediately shut down the node and have not turned it on since. I did not make any backups or snapshots of this volume because I did not have enough space.

Is there any hope of recovering the data?

Thx,
Timo

If you don't care much about the data, will it be worth all the effort to maybe restore (some of) it?

Don't start Proxmox but move the drive that contained the zvol to another system and copy it byte for byte (using dd) to another 6TB drive (or two) and try to recover it from there.
Since this is not Proxmox specific, you might want find some ZFS experts (or at least people with more knowledge than me) on the internet. Maybe they can explain how to import "an earlier version" of the ZFS pool and maybe recover (some of) the data. Best of luck to you.

Luckily, the Uberblocks still existed, so I found this article helpful in recovering my destroyed dataset on a ZFS pool.
