I clean installed new version of Proxmox 8 beta looking at my tank storage I see that my data is still there from my fileserver.
is there a way I can connect a new file server to that storage?
also there is a vm data is there away to recover that vm?
thank you

my answer maybe to just rsync -a from one dir to another that has been created during new fileserver container

if you setup a storage entry for "tank" that matches what you had before, you should see the volumes when browsing the storage in the GUI. then you can recreate the guest (using the same ID), and then run "pct rescan" (container) or "qm rescan" (VM) to add references to the found volumes to the guest config. you can then re-attach those unused volumes using the GUI. if the volume in question was your container's rootfs, then you likely need some manual work.

Thank you that’s some good info too bad I already deleted my windows vm storage oh well it fun reinstalling and lately been learning new tweaks to do along the way. To make the image as small and responsive. Although the reason I changed was trying to get full cpu hardware encoding to work and seeing if I can lower power usage. Seems to be the same haven’t found anything new in beta 8 other then pci pass through is labeled better. I had to save a cheat sheet before.

awesome worked had to manually type it in but this time it accepted it.
Before when I typed it in it still made a disk 1 instead of keeping disk 0
