I have a HW appliance box with 6 NICs. I want to reinstall Proxmox in the configuration shown in the picture. The goal is to have a virtualized pFsense with one physical WAN and two LAN ports. I also want to install a Security Onion VM where one NIC is in promiscuous mode to record/monitor the traffic on LAN2 and LAN3 (NET 1 & NET 2). Other equipment will be connected to physical distribution switches.
Can anyone give tips on how I can achieve this? I'm starting to wonder if Security Onion might not need physical ports since it's a VM2 in the same appliance.
