Recommendations Homelab Build

Hi guys,

I wanna build my homelab (currently refurbished SFF PC with i5 8500 which is struggling) from scratch with server-grade parts. I run like 30-40 VMs. Should be energy efficient and cost effective. It runs 24/7.

Here’s the list. What do you think?

CPU: AMD EPYC 7352

Motherboard: Supermicro H12SSL-i

RAM: Crucial 128GB DDR4-3200 ECC RDIMM

Boot Storage: Samsung PM893 480GB SATA SSD (2x)

App Storage: Samsung PM893 3.84TB SATA SSD (2x)

PSU: Seasonic PRIME TX-750

GPU: NVIDIA RTX A2000

Network Card: Intel X710-DA2

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U14S TR4-SP3

Case Fans: Noctua NF-A14 PWM

HBA Controller: LSI 9300-8i

Case: Fractal Design Define 7 XL

A 155 watt TDP CPU is not going to be energy efficient. You don't kneed that much CPU to run 30-40 VMs. Brandon Lee was able to run 250 VMs on a much smaller CPU.
