Hi,
in order to solve my cable/controller/disk issue on my SATA disk (https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/ata2-resets.130991/), I want to install Proxmox.
Current setup:
- 2 disks:
- NVMe disk (2TB): all the rest, VMS, backups,...
- SATA disk (480GB): Promoxx 7.4-16 installed + ISO
So I want to remove the SATA disk and have everything on the NVMe disk.
I have only 1 VM to backup/restore.
What would be the best approach?
I'm thinking of:
- Backup this VM using Proxmox GUI Datacenter-->Node-->VM-->backup-->"Backup now" button
- Save backup file (vzdump-qemu-100-2023xxx.vma.zst) to some network share/USB stick
- Install Proxmox 8 on NVMe disk (and erase everything on NVMe disk as install will recreate partitions I guess)
- Copy previous backup file to new backup repository
- Restore VM using Proxmox GUI Datacenter-->Node--><partition where backup has been copied to>-->, select file, "Restore" button
Does that make sense? Is there any easier thing to do?
Thanks,
Jean
