As above. Ive rebuilt it a few times from scratch, tried the onboard 1gb lan, currently running on 2x 2.5gb usb lan adapters but doesnt seem to make any difference....

Roughly after a week i will lose total access to anything forcing a hard reboot (ive got it running on a wifi smart plug) as the box itself (a Dell Precision compact) is up on a high shelf with no keyboard or mouse connected.

Im not really sure where to start with regards to fault finding....

Edit: Remote SSH is also unavailable.

Hello ComfySofa! Please post the journal around the time the issue starts to happen (e.g. 1 hour before you lose access and some time afterwards): journalctl --since <TIME> --until <TIME>

Alright. You're welcome!

Please also give us more details about the hardware: CPU, motherboard, storage, etc.

In case the machine is completely unresponsive but you see any errors on the screen, please also take a photo (depending on the issue, the logs might not be written anymore to the disk, so even the journal might not help anymore - but a photo might, in this case).

Here are some further general recommendations that might improve system stability:
  1. Make sure to update the BIOS to the latest version. Note that you might need to reconfigure the BIOS settings after updating.
  2. Make sure to update the firmware on firmware-upgradable devices (e.g. SSDs, NICs, other devices) to their latest versions.
  3. Enable Debian's non-free-firmware repository and install the CPU-vendor specific microcode package.
Whether these actually help depends on the actual issue you have :)

Hi there
ok - its a Dell Precision Compact 3260 from memory.
12th gen Core i9
64gb Memory
2 internal 4tb ssd's
1 internal Sata 2TB ssd
1gb lan but not used (Currently running 2x 2.5gb) usb dongles
12gb A2000 Nvidia card.
Bios is currently up to date.

Ive got a few extra usb devices like external storage, 1x 20gb external drive and a few 1tb m2 ssd's along with a couple of sonoff radio's for Home assistant.

Im on the free repository and check usually most days. There was a walkthrough on changing the drivers for the 2.5gb adaptors that i followed which i think went ok (well its still online!)

Im not sure how to do firmware updates to the ssds through proxmox tbh!

Thanks for the information.

This depends on which SSDs you have (exact model). I would recommend you to check with the SSD manufacturer for more information (e.g. on their support website). Some of them offer update tools (some of which are Windows-only), some offer bootable ISOs, others also offer updates through the fwupdmgr (see fwupdmgr get-updates). You'll need to check what's the recommended way to install firmware updates, and whether there are any updates available.

Right ok - from recollection they are crucial ones....ill check. Thanks very much for the help.
