Proxmox 4.4 (stable) is installed. Proxmox just reboots the Host. It appears as if it just reboots whenever RAM usage is high. This is very annoying. The Host has 32GB RAM and the VM that's running is set to utilize 16GB. So there should be enough room to work just fine. But it still reboots sometimes. There is no newer kernel in the repository for the version i am running. There is nothing useful in the /var/log/ logfiles! Nothing.

I see people reported such issues already and mark it as solved when it 'seems to work' after reducing the RAM usage. But as far as I can tell, it is not ok.

Edit: I found the reason why my kernel was not up to date. Now I changed the apt sources to use the non subscription repository. There is a newer kernel. I will try that.

Hi,

There is a newer kernel. I will try that.

OK, report back if it still does not work and include some more details of your setup, e.g. storage used (ZFS; HW raid, ...) and other details which could matter remotely (do you use HA?).

At the moment I avoid getting anywhere near using the full memory available. I limited ZFS memory usage.

Last time I forgot to limit it's memory usage and then it just eats up all available memory and then a otherwise 'free' host just died from this oom issue. Sadly ZFS does not free memory aggressively enough by itself.

I 've the same problem on proxmox 4.4 with 32 Go. How do you limite ZFS memory usage ?

Thanks
