Everything seems to be okay but each time I open shell I see the following error before it goes to the standard root screen

-bash: /root/.profile: line 6: syntax error near unexpected token `fi'
-bash: /root/.profile: line 6: ` fi'

In short there is an error in .profile that contains bash scripting code.

Did you perhaps modify .profile in /root ?
Did you perhaps install some sort of shell extension?

What does your .profile look like ? If you are not familiar with bash , you can post it into chatpgtp and ask the nice guy how you can fix it.

Thanks, I backed it up and then deleted it, Seems okay.

It was filled with this, /.pr[[newhostname][newhostname]w[newhostname][newhostname][newhostname][newhostnam>if [ "$BASH" ]; [[newhostname][newhostname]w[newhostname][newhostname][newhostname][n> if [ -f ~/.b[[newhostname][newhostname]w[newhostname][newhostname][newhostname][new> . ~/.b[[newhostname][newhostname]w[newhostname][newhostname][newhostname][newhost> fifi[[newhostname][newhostname]w[newhostname][newhostname][newhostname][newhostname][newh>
