RAID configuration - DL360p

Dear community,

i have HP dl360p gen8 server with 8x600gb sas 10k hdds. Can you please recomend me raid setup for best/optimal preformance of proxmox. and if possible to have 1 disk in spare.

Use 5 disks in RAID5 mode with one spare (4x600 GB = 2.4 TB). This should give you the best performance on that system without loosing too much space.

with 8 drives and assuming you have a P420i controller installed, Raid6+0 is probably for best bet. Will give you (6 x 600) capacity and the tolerance of up to two failed drives
