[SOLVED] RAID 1 without hardware controller

Hello,

I am looking to get 2 servers with Super Micro Mainboard from Thomas Krenn: 2HE Intel Single-CPU RI1208-AIXSN Server

I was looking to get:
Broadcom MegaRAID 9560-8i SAS-SATA-NVMe + CacheVault Flash Cache Protection Modul für Broadcom + 2x 3,84 TB Kioxia CD8-R U.2 NVMe SSD

But it is in total € 3400 more expensive than:
Software RAID with 2 x 3,84 TB Samsung PM9A3 M.2 NVMe SSD

Will a software RAID 1 give me the same performance and safety?
Or does something speak against it?

Then ZFS or btrfs has to be used. More safety because of checksumming and so on but also more overhead so less performance.

I would be fine with ZFS.
What is the performance hit approximately? Rough estimate is fine.

Personally I really like to have the ZFS Features: Snapshots & Replication, so it seems software RAID is actually better for me even if there was the option to go hardware RAID.

Thank you also for chiming it. Yes, it was actually exactly what I was looking for. I also marked the topic as solved.
Should let go and just get to work. But I thought maybe there is something more to look at nevertheless
