I am a bit of a newbie and have a couple quick questions on a new install. I have 3 Dell Servers with PERC 730 RAID controllers. Attached to the RAID controller I have 6 4TB drives all setup as individual RAID 0's for the OSD's. What is the recommendation for the following RAID controller settings?
Read Policy: Read Ahead or OFF?
Write Policy: Write Through or Write Back?
Force Write Back with battery: Yes or No?
Disk Cache Policy: Enable or Disable?
I have four 1G ethernet adapters. I was planning on bonding 2 into separate switches for the cluster/control network (untagged). I was then planning on bonding 2 for the VM networks (tagged). Lastly, 2 10G ethernet adapters bonded together for the ceph storage network (untagged).
In regards to the networking model, is Open vSwitch recommended over the default Linux networking setup? Can both OVS and Linux be used? For example, OVS for VM networks and Linux bonding for control and storage network?
Is there any issue running storage network on a VLAN tagged interface?
