Hello. I'm currently running my home proxmox server on an old desktop of mine. Given that it wasn't ever built for virtulization in mind it ran out of resources pretty quick, so now I'm looking to build a new server. I was thinking of going with a AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, however I've seen some discussions about issues with proxmox + linux with Ryzen CPU's. This one for instance:- https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/proxmox-freezing-on-amd-ryzen-machines.56806/

At this stage are Ryzen (particularly Ryzen 7s) cpu's just not very stable / reliable for proxmox? Would I be better off going with an Intel cpu (Say a Intel Core i9-9900K or Intel Core i7-8700 for example) to save my self potential issues I may get with a Ryzen?

One other seperate question. If I want to use a ZFS mirror for my proxmox OS and a few VM's / containers would the SSD's involved need to ideally be same manufacturer + model? Thanks for any input provided!

I am using an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X in my dev workstation (Proxmox VE with a desktop environment on top) for a few months now without a problem. Just make sure you update your motherboards BIOS.

I would argue to use at least different batches and if possible a different manufacturer for disks. This way you reduce the risk of losing both within a very short time, giving you time to replace the faulty drive.
The slower of the two disks will determine the speed of the mirror.

If possible go with some enterprise-grade SSDs and not consumer models. The consumer models can sometimes wear out quite fast when used in a server setting.
