Hi
I was wondering if someone could shed some light, Currently im looking to implement PBS but currently i have 3 proxmox server and all of them running pve-zync which is working great
My questions are

1) Is PBS faster on running copies vs the snapshots on zfs running pve-zync
2) does PBS let me recover the copies on the other host without more then 1 hour of downtime? as currently because the snapshots are getting sent to the other server i can less then 10min put up the server
3) does PBS have to be installed on metal server or can it be installed on top of proxmox?

Thank you

both is possible

I guess that depends on the size of your backups and the hardware of your server. PBS needs SSDs for good performance.

You need to test that yourself, but I would really wonder if ZFS replication won't beat PBS

thanks for the reply, will keep that in mind, from what i was reading it seems that zfs snapshots might beat the PBS im guess i need to try it out,
