Quarantine mails vanished from master after a restore

Environment
  • PMG 9.0.2, 2‑node HA cluster (master + slave)

What happened
  1. Took a full backup of the master.
  2. Factory‑reset the Mail Filter rules (just to see the defaults).
  3. Restored the backup ~5 minutes later.
  4. After the restore, the master shows no quarantine messages, while the same messages are still present on the slave.

Other actions performed (should be unrelated)
  • Added a backup schedule (forgot to re‑enable it after a PBS change).
  • Removed an Action Object from two mail‑filter rules.
  • Changed the priority of one rule.

Question
How can I restore the missing quarantine database on the master? I wonder what could have happened here.

Thanks.

Quarantined mails and other transient data (most notably the syslogs which are the source for the tracking center) are not part of PMG's backup - and they get cleared when you restore from backup.

So unless you created a backup of the PMG machine they are gone from your node.

The quarantined mails from all mails are however distributed in a PMG cluster - and they are accessible through the master node.

I'd create a backup of both nodes (also a backup of the machines, not just a PMG backup) and promote the current secondary (slave) node to master (`pmgcm promote`) then join a newly created PMG as new secondary.

I hope this helps!
