Hi
I backed up the vm and want to restore to another proxmox.
qmrestore /mnt/pve/images/dump/vzdump-qemu-8777-2020_07_27-09_59_43.vma.lzo 8777 -storage local-zfs
But I get this error:
failed: storage 'MySAN' does not exists

source pve: 6.1-8
destination pve: 5.4-13

Hi,
could you post the complete output when you run the qmrestore command and also the output of the following?
Code:
pvesm extractconfig <STOREID>:backup/vzdump-qemu-8777-2020_07_27-09_59_43.vma.lzo
where you need to insert the storage ID for the backup storage.

Also note that PVE 5.4 reaches end of life in a few days.

Thank you for your repsonse

From GUI:

restore vma archive: lzop -d -c /mnt/pve/images/dump/vzdump-qemu-8777-2020_07_27-09_59_43.vma.lzo | vma extract -v -r /var/tmp/vzdumptmp27114.fifo - /var/tmp/vzdumptmp27114 CFG: size: 3528 name: qemu-server.conf DEV: dev_id=1 size: 32426164224 devname: drive-scsi0 CTIME: Mon Jul 27 09:59:45 2020 TASK ERROR: command 'set -o pipefail && lzop -d -c /mnt/pve/images/dump/vzdump-qemu-8777-2020_07_27-09_59_43.vma.lzo | vma extract -v -r /var/tmp/vzdumptmp27114.fifo - /var/tmp/vzdumptmp27114' failed: storage 'MySAN' does not exists

The problem is a bug with the check for the cloudinit disk. The bug was fixed here, but I don't think the fix got back-ported to PVE 5.4.

What you can do is either:
  • extract the backup manually:
    1. extract the compressed vma file with lzop -d <archive.vma.lzo>.
    2. use vma extract <archive.vma> </some/directory> to extract the contents of the vma file, i.e. the VM config and the disk image, to a directory.
    3. cp </some/directory>/qemu-server.conf /etc/pve/nodes/<NODE>/qemu-server/8777.conf.
    4. qm importdisk 8777 </some/directory>/disk-drive-scsi0.raw local-zfs.
    5. In the GUI, the disk should now appear as an unused disk. Just detach the old, invalid one and attach the unused one.
    6. The Cloud-Init Drive also does not exist (although it will show up in the config/GUI), so you'll have to re-create your Cloud-Init settings.
  • apply the patch yourself (please only do this if you have some experience with such things or are not on a production system and want to gain some experience) and restore with qmrestore.
