I am trying to restore a vm to a different host. I used the following, I suspect I need to create a storage "data2", on the new host.

restore vma archive: zstd -q -d -c /mnt/pve/samba2/dump/vzdump-qemu-101-2021_03_07-16_54_46.vma.zst | vma extract -v -r /var/tmp/vzdumptmp12518.fifo - /var/tmp/vzdumptmp12518
CFG: size: 532 name: qemu-server.conf[ICODE]
DEV: dev_id=1 size: 225485783040 devname: drive-scsi0
CTIME: Sun Mar 7 16:54:55 2021
no lock found trying to remove 'create' lock
command 'set -o pipefail && zstd -q -d -c /mnt/pve/samba2/dump/vzdump-qemu-101-2021_03_07-16_54_46.vma.zst | vma extract -v -r /var/tmp/vzdumptmp12518.fifo - /var/tmp/vzdumptmp12518' failed: storage 'data2' does not exist[/ICODE]

Hi,
it's not necessary to create a new storage. You should be able to select the storage you want to restore to in the GUI or with the --storage option for the CLI.

Thanks Fabian, you are correct. I did not read through all the documentation. I (sheepishly admit) added a new storage ( data2) and it worked.
I am trying to get used to the gui, however I do prefer the command line in most instances. I will need to play/experiment with it. I suspect I can restore a vm, with a number of options, to a any location. Thank you for your time.
