Qlogic QLE3242 or HP NC523SFP supported?

Hi guys,

i'm looking at maybe buying and trying out Qlogic QLE3242 or HP NC523SFP (which are basically the same cards) under ProxMox. Would use them with cisco SFP-H10GB cards.
I wonder has anyone tested them before?
Are they really overheating?
Do they really require proprietary drvers?

I got a NC523SFP from Ebay today. The Proxmox 6.0 installer recognized the NC523SFP adapter, FreeNas 11.2U5 also

The surface is hot, but I know other 10GB nics like Solarflare are also hot.
