qemu-ga high CPU usage

Greetings, I've got an Ubuntu 18.04 KVM/QEMU VM that is showing 40% CPU usage for qemu-ga all the time. Stopping the service fixes the CPU usage. Any ideas?

Can you have a look at the logfile or stderr output? Is there anything useful?

Which log file, just standard syslog? All I see there is:
guest-ping called
I'm not sure how to see stderr.

Try this: systemctl status qemu-guest-agent.service

systemctl status qemu-guest-agent.service just shows "guest-ping called" a few times every few hours
