I am running Proxmox on a Dell SC1435 and have a mix of OPenVZ and Qemm VPSes. On this machine I can can stop or reset the Qemm VPSes nor I can shut down the VPSes. All commands get hung, for example on the Running Maintainance Tasks I see the task STOP and the VPS ID but nothing is happening I also check on the task and see that the executing command is /usr/sbin/qm shutdown 112. I am afraid to reboot the system because that last time we saw this scenario on 1.3 the entire machine was hung and then the OS was non functional after wards (not very pleasant). What can I do to shut these VPSes down?

Thanks

qm shutdown sends a acpi command which need to be executed in the guest, so it depends on the guest - what OS do you run?

Tom,

Thanks very much for your respond. The OS is Debian.

which architecture, which release number, kernel version? make sure you have acpi running inside.
