Hello,

I have a QNAP with 2.6 TB of data available with a shared folder. When I create storage with SMB/CIFS that links to my qnap with the shared folder, everything links up. When I create a VM with 2.00 tb of storage I get this error when I create the VM

Formatting '/mnt/pve/PlexQNAP/images/100/vm-100-disk-0.qcow2', fmt=qcow2 cluster_size=65536 extended_l2=off preallocation=metadata compression_type=zlib size=2147483648000 lazy_refcounts=off refcount_bits=16
TASK ERROR: unable to create VM 100 - unable to create image: 'storage-PlexQNAP'-locked command timed out - aborting

Hi,
if you are running Proxmox VE 7, you can set preallocation off for the network storage (can be done in the CLI via pvesm or in the GUI Datacenter > Storage > Edit > Advanced).

Thank you for the possible solution. I just used a raw storage.
