with

pvesm set cifs/nfs-ds-name --disable 1

i can disable my backup storage and with

pvesm set cifs/nfs-ds-name --disable 0

I can re-enable it

apparently, the storage is not getting unmounted from the cluster.

is there a command for unmounting the storage cluster-wide or would an RFE for it getting accepted ?

i would like to have two cifs/nfs datastores for backup which are getting used alternating, and which are offline/shutdown when no backup is running.

energy costs are high and having backup offline for security is good...

technically this is what 'deactivate_storage' in the storage plugins is for - but it's not really wired up anywhere with the assumption that deactivation is only rarely necessary (it happens automatically on shutdown, and can be done manually if a storage is removed "forever" which is a rather rare thing).

yes, but why should a backup share stay mounted when it's deactivated and not needed ?

if the backup nas/share/server is shutdown, there will be errors or you get stuck io/syscalls with that.

if i disable the datastore and unmount manually, and re-enable it, it get's automatically mounted again.

so, it's not very logical, that the reverse is not possible.

would you consider an unmount command on the cluster level, so we won't need to add ugly scripting to walk trough each machine in the cluster separately?

is that something which sounds reasonable?

i would file an RFE for it then...
