PVE upgrade 6.4 to 8

Hi,

My PVE 6.4-15 must be upgrade to the last version 8. So I have big work...
I have to upgrade 6.4 to 7 first Upgrade 6.x to 7.0 then I will have to upgrade to 8 Upgrade 7 to 8
It seems I have to upgrade my ceph luminous to nautilus Luminous to nautilus then to octopus Nautilus to octopus

First, I don't understand what is Ceph. I don't think I use it.
When I run pve6to7, ceph is not detected.

Is the ceph's upgrade required?

When I run ceph osd dump | grep ^flags I have


On PVE I have only one node with 6 VMs. When I go mynode>Ceph, the text "Ceph is not installed on this node. Would you like to install it now?" pops-up (so it is installed on PVE but on my node?). If I try to install it I can choose the version to install (nautilus or octopus, not luminous). I want to select the octopus (15.2) version so I will not have to upgrade from nautilus. But I want to be sure I will not make a mistake: can I install this version from no one installed on my node? Even if my ceph is in luminous?


In the upgrade-how-to, it's "required" to make backups before. All my VMs are backuped on un PBS 2.4-3.

• if the upgrade goes wrong, can I install a PVE 8 from zero then link it to my PBS to recover the VMs?
• the PVE runs in an enterprise. What files may be backup to restore my conf?
