PVE unexpected reboots

i bumped my dram (4x32 corsair irrc, was set to 6000) down to 3600 and will hopefully remember to report back... thanks!

changing my ram settings did not impact the seemingly random reboots, it just happened again after a few days ‍

I have similar issues for about a week now. Proxmox server crashes (and is then automatically powered on) 1 to 3 times per day for about a week. I'm puzzled on how to troubleshoot it's causes. Can't see anything abnormal in kern.log dmesg or syslog. I'll enable kernel dumps. Sucks since the entire home runs on one Home Assistant vm...

I actually havent had a reboot ocurr since the day I posted this... maybe Im wrong and that restart occurred from something else...

Perhaps it is related to these known issues for pmx 8.2 with kernel 6.8. I'll run on kernel 6.11 for a week or so to see if it proves as stable as it used to be for the past 4 years on my setup. https://www-thomas--krenn-com.trans...to&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en-US&_x_tr_pto=wapp#

Update, crashed (froze) again, also with 6.11 kernel. Now running memtest86... I'll keep you posted.

Update: memtest86 had s successful first pass. Reverted to the latest 6.5 kernel and it ran stable through the night. I'll keep you posted hopefully on a solution.

OK, things ran stable for 12 or so hours with the 6.5 kernel. And since the family is out of the house today I'll run with 6.11 and the kernel parameters recommended by Thomas-Krenn since I understand that this kernel will be the default in Ubuntu 22.04.02 LTS anyways I trust it sufficiently for my setup.

UPDATE 13:00: Froze within minutes. Back to 6.8 kernel and extra kernel parameters.
initrd=\EFI\proxmox\6.11.0-2-pve\initrd.img-6.11.0-2-pve root=ZFS=rpool/ROOT/pve-1 boot=zfs amd_iommu=on iommu=pt pcie_aspm=off amd_pstate=active pcie_port_pm=off libata.force=noncq

Update: 15:00 6.8 kernel froze as well. Stable on 6.5 so far..

Last update on my behalf: all is stable now. What did I do? I've removed all kernel options

from
Code:
 root=ZFS=rpool/ROOT/pve-1 boot=zfs amd_iommu=on iommu=pt pcie_aspm=off amd_pstate=active

to
Code:
root=ZFS=rpool/ROOT/pve-1 boot=zfs amd_pstate=passive

and upgraded to the 6.11 kernel series.

Stable for a month now.
