Hi,

currently I am running PVE nested inside Hyper-V on a Win10 Pro machine. I know this is not perfect, but at the moment I have no option to run a bare-metal machine and have to use the Win10 machine :(.

What is the preferred configuration of the PVE storage in this case?
  • Shall I add a SMB/CIFS share of a Win10 NTFS folder to PVE for storing the VMs?
  • Shall I add further VHDX virtual disk to the Hyper-V PVE machine and use e.g. LVM or LVM-Thin on it?
Beside the drawback of the nested virtualization I only have the option to provide "some kind of Windows storage" to PVE for storing the VMs.

Thanks a lot for your recommendations in advance,

Thomas
