PVE host OS updates

I feel really daft for not seeing anything or not asking earlier...I don't have a subscription (shame on me) but I'm assuming that only applies to PVE and related packages? The core functions of the host OS from the PVE installer still applies updates, correct?

Or do I need to disable the enterprise respository so the authorization error doesn't prevent update execution?

Okay...does this mean that a default PVE install doesn't apply any updates unless you have a subscription or modify the proxmox repo?
Once installed, PVE points to Enterprise repository, which absent subscription will return an error. Your standard next step is to buy subscription or point your installation to a free repository. Free repo receives updates more often and they may be less tested than the Enterprise one.
Or you can leave it as is and continue receiving errors and stay on vanilla non-updated installation.

this is the standard OS repo file included in PVE:
Code:
/etc/apt# more sources.list
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian bullseye main contrib

deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian bullseye-updates main contrib

# security updates
deb http://security.debian.org bullseye-security main contrib

so to answer your questions - OS updates would be handled from here.

Okay yes that makes sense since you can install PVE on an existing system. Thanks!
