We are planning an upgrade to pve 2.1 of a local server with a considerably modified partition table. At the time we took the work of resizing root and pve-data partitions to allocate for example some tmp and cache LVM partitions and a 60Gb root.
I was really hoping that pve 2 would include "some" options on the bare installation. I am very thankfull to the pve team for there great work and constant support but I do disagree that the ISO installer should only be for "those who can't answer what partitioning they need".
I understand there are now ate least some params on the installer maxroot & swapsize to allow partition limits for this two, which simplifies a lot specially resizing the root partition afterwards. I've also seen some old patches included at http://forum.proxmox.com/threads/483-Installer-automatic-partitioning so I was wondering if there are any similar option to limit for example the size of pve-data even if it means patching the ISO cd in advance.
Also alternatively, I was considering trying the "route" of upgrading our systems as is. Not so much PVE itself (which I've heard not recommended) but the whole debian system and then reinstalling PVE fresh from repos once on Debian 6 and then restoring VMs.
I see a new /etc/pve fuse partition which we currently don't have, not sure if this or any other would mean an issue in this case.
Thanks in advance for any comments.
