PVE compatibility with Adaptec adpaters

the 1220sa is a hostraid adapter (= fakeraid). not supported.

go for a real hardware raid controller, series 6 or 7.

a quite cheap one (but with limited features and no cache protection!), http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/support/raid/sas_raid/sas-6405e/

Many thanks Tom for your answer, I will follow your advices

And i know the risks when don't have cache protection, :)

Please, let me to do the last questions to help me to make my decision:
(I can't to do tests and then buy, I can only buy importing)
Excuse if i make several questions, but i like to understand how PVE works in these cases. or at least for Intel and Adaptec.

1- Should I assume that PVE 2.3 and 3.0 have all the drivers required for the series 6 and 7 of Adaptec?
2- If the answer are possitive, with the latest drivers? (do not want to compile the kernel after of each update)
For example for the Adaptec RAID 6405E see this link (driver updated on 10 Apr 2013):
http://www.adaptec.com/en-us/speed/raid/aac/linux/aacraid-dkms-1_2_1-29900_tgz.htm

3- Comparing price with economic cards RAID of Intel (LSI), the price is similar,
eg RS2WC040 :
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Se...roductProduct=Intel®+RAID+Controller+RS2WC040 (driver updated on 6/28/2013)
I guess PVE 2.3 and 3.0 versions have the latest versions of Intel drivers (do not want to compile the kernel after of each update)
Is right?

In anyway many thanks

Best regards
Cesar

yes, we have "1.2-1[29900]", already in the ISO, so it just works (6 and 7).

We use several Adaptecs here in our test lab, since the beginning of Proxmox VE, with good results. Personally I do not use the LSI controllers, so maybe someone else can report the long term experience with these manufacturer.

Many thanks again Tom for your answers,
for me is very important ... :p

And if anyone can dispel my doubts about the compatibility of PVE with Intel (LSI) RAID cards, please feel free to comment
