I have a 8 core AMD Tyan-server with 5 x 1TB Disks.

I would like to use the 5 x 1TB als one Raid5 with /boot on Raid1

How do I have to do that with PVE ???

I tried to install Debian / Etch with the software raid.

That works fine.

Then I tried to install the pve-kernel. This one does not recognize the
Raid5 where the root-fs is on.

Is Raid missing in the PVE-Kernel ??

Regards

You shouldn't be doing software raids. There is another thread on this forum that will point that out.

Do you have a separate /boot partition? lilo and grub can't boot a system from raid-5.

Did you generate a new initramfs for the new kernel (update-initramfs or mkinitrd)?
