Hi all,

sorry for another question here in the forum, but I'm trying to well configure my first Proxmox HA cluster.;)

I have 3 nodes, fencing works ok via "fence_ipmilan" with action "off".
I'm making some tests like shutdown manullay all the nodes and then switch on it at the same time.
During the switch on, sometimes, one of the 3 nodes is fenced by another node, so I have to manually switch on the fenced node and the the 3 nodes cluster is again OK.

How can I avoid this issue ?

Many thanks.

If you run HA Cluster, you need to make sure that you always have quorum. This is not the case if you power off all nodes.

Second, ipmi is not the best fence method, better is an server independent fencingd device (e.g. APC power fencing).

Yes Tom,

you are right... but I'm trying to simulate a scenario where all the nodes are down and I must switch it on ...

so i guess this means that he should power on 2 nodes, wait for them being up, and then power on the 3rd. at least this is how our testing cluster works - one of the nodes used boots significantly slower, to it is also fenced during power-up...

may i ask - why?
i find IPMI - "real" IPMI - to be quite practical and stable; and technically it is very close to APC as well, imo: it uses power from the host, but runs independent otherwise; and actual fencing is also done using "power fencing"...
