Hello
I'm looking to setup mirrored arrays for both of the 8tb nvme drives and for both of the 22tb sata drives.
I am looking for recommendations on how you would configure your setup.
I'm wanting to create
1st vm: a ubuntu vm using 101 gigs of the nvme's with 4 cores
2nd vm: a ubuntu vm with remaining 7.8 tb's of the nvme with 2 cores.
3rd vm: a ubuntu vm with the 22 tb sata drives with 2 cores

I could swap out the wifi card for a single 2tb 2230 nvme drive and key adapter w/ reduced pci lanes
I could also put proxmox on a usb drive and have that as a boot drive or do the above 2230vm.

I have a 30tb nas I can backup the vm's to. Is there any advantage to installing proxmox to boot off of a usb drive? Would it be better to rely upon the motherboard raid or better to use proxmox to handle?

I would go for zfs mirrors, make sure you setup monitoring or at least install zfs-zed after setting up zfs, so you get basic zfs monitoring to @root. Please dont install proxmox on a usb-drive, those will fail very soon, as proxmox is very write intensive on boot-medium.
