Proxmox with Synology NAS recommendation

Hello, i have a configuration into a datacenter.
2 physical proxmox servers (cluster)
4 VM's on both servers.
1 unmanaged switch
1 Synology NAS 815+ (2x 1TB SSD and 2x 6TB, 4x 1GB network)

Now i want to make a HA cluster.

So, i was thinking:
-VM's running on proxmox servers.
-NFS1 mount from proxmox servers to SSD disks NAS.
-VM's disks on NAS SSD storage.
-The data from VM's data with NFS2 to 6TB disks NAS

What about this solution?
What would be the best configuration?
because, more VM's through one 1GB utp (between Proxmox and SSD NAS) isnt so good, i think.
And the data from NFS1 to NFS2 is going through the same UTP to?

tnx for helping!

But the picture shows 3 servers
4 VM's on both servers.

Now i want to make a HA cluster.
HA needs at least 3 servers!

Depends on running applications, traffic, etc.....

Correct - since you have 4 NICs at the NAS consider a meshed, bonded network (assuming only 2 of your maybe 3 servers must be connected to NAS), see https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Full_Mesh_Network_for_Ceph_Server (the example describes how to use for Ceph, but the principle can be used in any case).

Hi,

Your third node is only there for quorum?

Your RS 815+ car share some LUN, iSCSI is probably better than nfs when performance is needed (multipathing is definetly better than bonding here, as soon as you have more than 2 ethernet ports).

We have setups based on 3 RS815RP+ :
- 1 SAN (iSCSI) with 4 x SSD 1TB Samsung 850 PRO (more or less for data hdd)
- 1 SAN (iSCSI) with 4 x Seagate ST3000 3TB (more or less for system drive)
- 1 NAS (nfs) with 4 x WDC W60EFRX 6TB (vzdump and ISO)
- 2 x HP 5130 switches.

Works really (really) like a charm.

Of course, try to avoid local storages as much as possible.

Are you absolutely sure you need HA?

Christophe.
