proxmox with desktop installed

(This forum is great as well as promox is great s/w !)

Quick question to those who is using a real desktop with proxmox.

I am thinking about it, specifically I'd like to install time-shift https://github.com/teejee2008/timeshift.

Wonder if people actually use it a lot. Pros vs cons and what the correct way to add it on top on standard installation?

I know Proxmox staff uses whatever desktop they like on top of PVE.

You should know Proxmox 6 is standard Debian Buster with an Ubuntu Kernel and Proxmox packages.

Don't forget disable Apt-Cacher in the Wizard.

If you installed with ZFS, you cannot use the tool above. BTRFS is currently not supported as main OS filesystem, so you will not gain any improvements there.

I'd like to find a reliable way to add a desktop on pve, preferably with an option to undo in case of failure.

The script about seem a bit scary... especially for a newbie

We use Proxmox also as VDI. Plasma is the default Desktop. And you can choose what would you like. For example:

You don't really need any special scripts. Debian has pretty clear instructions for installing KDE desktop after the main system has already been set up: https://wiki.debian.org/KDE
