I was considering an ESXi whitebox with this:

CPU i5 4570
MOBO GigaByte GA-Z87M-D3H
Case. NOX NX-1 Evo
PSU LC Power 550W 6550GP V2.2 120mm
RAM 2 x Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800
HDD 2 x Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200rpm 64MB SATA 6.0Gb/s
Cooler ARTIC COOLING FREEZER 7 PRO REV.2

However I realized that ESXi didn't supported the motherboard raid... so I would have to buy a card... and then more money...

So I thought about buying a Samsung 256GB SSD Pro instead of "Raiding" two Barracuda.

Long story short: I discovered proxmox and thought about trying it (with this hardware). What do you think about it?

My goal is to run:

1 webserver (500 visitors/day)
1 elastix pbx
1 active directory (study purposes)
1 exchange (study)
1 general windows server 2012 (study)

Thanks

This will not work pretty good. Windows need Power. You should have 6 - 8 Harddisks (better 10-15k) in Raid 10 and 16 GB RAM. CPU i7 is better. Remember: You will install one Webserver (hoply linux), phonesystem, Domaincontroller, Exchange and Server 2012 as Terminalsserver. This is not small.
but, test it!

It looks like I'll try ESXi, Hyper-V, Proxmox and Xenserver...

Regarding the hardware it would be:

CPU i5 4570
MOBO GigaByte GA-Z87-D3HP
Case. NOX NX-1 Evo
PSU LC Power 550W 6550GP V2.2 120mm
RAM 2 x Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 PC3-12800
HDD Samsung 256GB 840 Pro Series 2.5 SATA III MLC SSD
Cooler ARTIC COOLING FREEZER 7 PRO REV.2

I believe that is a good system for its purposes... study :))

Maybe i didn't understand you. So its only for you. Ok, this is enough.
