Proxmox vs Openstack for Healthcare IoT cloud services

Hello Everyone,

I am working on a IoT solution towards providing remote diagnostics and consulting services in healthcare to remote (rural) areas in India. Since our solution needs to be low cost, I have opted out of existing cloud service providers.

I am on a shoe string budget. Some parts of the reverse proxy, NFS based backups and, nodes clustering is iron out, but several still remain.

I am wondering if it will be all worth the effort to be able to scale and stitch such infrastructure in 3 other locations for high availability.

I notice several discussions mentioning Openstack being a better choice for scalable cloud solutions. I am wondering if I should continue my pursuit with proxmox or start working with Openstack before its too late.

Regards
Deepak

Please advise and enlighten me.

In my opinion, the Openstack community is dying a slow death. Go to the OS site and follow the link for all the companies that offered commercial distributions, most of them all 404 now, which isn't a good sign.

If I were building out a cloud platform, OS wouldn't be on my short list. If you need multi-site with single pane of glass management, I'd look at OpenNebula.

Proxmox was working on a central management tool for multi-site clusters, but it has been a work in progress for many years now, so don't hold your breath for that to show up anytime soon.

Hey @ssechao_weytop.com,
My opinion :

OpenNebula best sucess story is telefonica (cf the website). The video on youtube has been release in 2019.
And their last blog annoucement has been posted in Dec 2020.

On the other hand, Openstack last commit on their core module (horizon) has been commited (https://github.com/openstack/horizon/tree/693201b3cd726d44dc987bfad6b550b815266966) just yesterday (2023-02-06)

Just let know all the real truth

Don't spread misinformation about other open source projects. OpenNebula's latest blog post was actually published yesterday, and the latest commit is from last week :)
