Hello friends:

I am new with promox, i guess if proxmox support native SAN (FC) or only support SAN but over iscsi.

I have 3PAR 8400 and i want to use proxmox but i am not sure how to configure iscsi in 3PAR.

I have 3PAR ready to work with proxmox over HP C3000, i was esxi and is zoning and ready.

Please help me

Cesar.

Hi Cesar
Proxmox VE supports every piece of hardware that the Linux kernel support and that includes Fiber Channel HBAs, so you can either use either FC or ISCSI to access the LUNS from the PVE host.
I don't have fiberchannel in my testlab, but I know some PVE users are using it with success. ( IIRC @LnxBil ? )

Thanks for your quick response. What kind of pve type should i use for quorum cluster disk?

I want the communication with the storage to be SAN and not LAN type. I know NFS and iscsi are LAN.

There is no quorum disk in Proxmox VE. Quorum is established using LAN (inner cluster communication). The communication with the 3PAR is "normal" traffic over the fc hba. Works the same on Proxmox VE as it does on any other enterprise linux.

For optimal setup in a cluster environment, you need a dedicated storage network (FC-SAN), a dedicated cluster network and the "outer" network to your LAN. So, you need at least 4 network cards connected to 2 switches (hopefully your 3PAR also has two FC switches).
