Proxmox VE can not write on disk on Truenas smb/cifs storage

I have a strange problem, if i create a vm with the disk on a smb storage on a truenas machine when i install the vm it creates the disk but then there is an error it can't write to the disk, any ideas?
Proxmox VE 7.3-3 and Truenas 12.0-U8.1

Truenas is picky with permissions and samba. You're honestly likely to have a much better time with a different mechanism of sharing storage...

that being said, try turning the logging level up in truenas for samba, and looking at the logs in /var/log/samba4

it'll (likely) take a hair of digging to spot the problem, but it aught show itself with some inspection.
