Proxmox VE 8 : Right QEMU CPU Types ?

Hello.

I'm new in Proxmox and VM.

I have just installed PVE 8 on a PC with Intel Core i7 4785t (intel 4th generation).

During the installation, I have choose kvm64 based on a tuto found on YouTube.

Is it better to make a new installation and select 'x86-64-v2-AES' ?

My goal is to run 2 VM :
- TrueNAS Scale
- Home Assistant

Hello,

x86-64-v2-AES is simply the new default since pve 8.0 https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Roadmap#Proxmox_VE_8.0

You do not have to make a new installation, just change the CPU type under Hardware->Processors.

I would choose the host type for the best performance.

If you plan to live migrate i would use x86-64-v2-AES, kvm64 or select an cpu-type compatible with your cpus:
