Proxmox VE 3 fails to boot after installation

Just installed Proxmox VE 3.0 from USB, but my server is not booting.

To install I had to enter debug mode to mount the USB and chroot into the installation, but after that installation went without any hickups.
After rebooting the server just hangs, it shows no sign whatsoever of trying to boot from the hard drive at all.

My server is a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM mainboard with a AMD Athlon X2 64 4850e

Any idea's???

(Obviously I checked if the BIOS is set to boot from the HDD)

Hi,
I guess the bootloader isn't writte to the hdd.
Yoiu can try to boot an live-cd (like grml) and write the bootloader again.

Thanks Udo, I'll try that tonight. I allready booted with a live cd (Trinity Rescue Kit), but couldn't really figure out what to do.
Im always having hard times understanding bootloaders.. :|

So, you mean that I write GRUB (or GRUB2?) to the MBR of the drive?

Thx, Sjoerd

I ran:

sudo grub-install /dev/sde
sudo grub-update

I then rebooted, I do get a grub command line now, but no Proxmox :(
Hi,
but on the grub command you should be able to start pve.
Like
Code:
set root='(hd0,msdos1)'
linux /vmlinuz-2.6.32-20-pve root=/dev/mapper/pve-root ro
initrd /initrd.img-2.6.32-20-pve
boot
(not tested) - If this work, you can run update-grub2 and the next boot is easier ;)

Error 27: Unrecognized command... looks like i've installed grub legacy 0.97 instead of grub2
any idea how to convert that command to legacy??

I ran the Super Grub2 live ISO, which was able to find a grub config somewhere and I just booted Proxmox VE :D :D
3-5 minutes installation time my ass... well, at least i got it running..
