Today I upgraded our Proxmox Cluster to version 5.2.

After rebooting the Server, all Ubuntu 14.04 CTs couldn't finish their init process.

PID USER PRI NI VIRT RES SHR S CPU% MEM% TIME+ Command
1 root 20 0 3820 3092 2696 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.02 /sbin/init
49 root 20 0 3060 1896 1752 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.00 ├─ plymouth-upstart-bridge
45 root 20 0 2868 1644 1504 S 0.0 0.1 0:00.00 └─ @sbin/plymouthd --mode=boot --attach-to-session
60 root 20 0 6664 4184 3108 S 0.0 0.2 0:00.00 /bin/bash
71 root 20 0 6608 3932 2716 R 0.0 0.2 0:00.00 └─ htop

these are all processes that are running in such a CT. it is not possible start any further processes.
tmpfs filesystems are not mounted:

14.04:
mount|grep tmpfs
none on /dev type tmpfs (rw,relatime,size=492k,mode=755)
varrun on /run type tmpfs (rw,relatime)

16.04:
mount |grep tmpfs
none on /dev type tmpfs (rw,relatime,size=492k,mode=755)
tmpfs on /dev/shm type tmpfs (rw,nosuid, nodev)
tmpfs on /run type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,mode=755)
tmpfs on /run/lock type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,noexec,relatime,size=5120k)
tmpfs on /sys/fs/cgroup type tmpfs (ro,nosuid,nodev,noexec,mode=755)
tmpfs on /run/user/0 type tmpfs (rw,nosuid,nodev,relatime,size=2375216k,mode=700)

Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04 and Debian 9 CTs running as expected.

Has anyone noticed any similar behavior after upgrading to 5.2?

Best wishes,
Stephan.

Finally I found the bug. I had to remove a leftover upstart-script from our openvz environment before the migration to proxmox.
