Hello together

I have a proxmox server with two network interfaces. One 1G and one 10G. Both are on the same network with different IP addresses. The gateway is defined on the 10G interface.

From the routing, it looks right.

Now I want to mount an NFS share. For this I have set the IP address of the 10G interface (10.10.10.23) to allow. However, the host always connects with the 1G interface (10.10.10.22).

Thus, the connection fails.

As soon as I physically disconnect the 1G interface, however, the 10G interface is also no longer accessible.

Does anyone have a tip for me?

Thank you very much and best regards

I have now found the following workaround for myself. Simply swapped the interface names, now it connects with the correct interface.

Is this the right way?

Thank you and best regards

Keep in mind that you better should not have a host with two IPs in the same subnet. That can cause routing problems as it is unclear which NIC to use when communicating with another machine in the 10.10.10.0/24 subnet.

Hi Dunuin

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately, there were problems with the 10G card in the past, so I also wanted to have a second connection for redundancy reasons. Since it is a very small installation, I also did not want to create multiple networks. But of course you are right.
Currently, however, it works like this for me. Maybe this helps someone.

Thanks and best regards
