I have a Dell r730xd, this was a dedicated TrueNas Scale NAS Build. I had some hardware failure on another home server. So i decided to consolidate some of my home servers. I upgraded the hardware on my 730 to dual Xeon e5-2699 v4 from a single e5-2620 v3 starting out with 128gb of ram from 32gb. i also upgraded the nic daughter card to dual 10gb/1gb Nics. ProxMox has been installed onto the idSDM and boots up just fine. I added addiotional PCI NVMe cards currently 4 500gb NVMe drives with zfs to store vms. PC pass through is working as i have a VM i built for testing, confirmed with both nvidia-smi driver load within ubuntu server. and hardware transcoding through plex from this test VM.
Where i am having an issue is, is with my TrueNas scale, which was a physical server. My struggle is it will not boot using the raid controller though it is added hardware to the VM, and if i run the install of truenas it does pick up all the drives natively connected to the controller.
I do have a current data backup of the TrueNAS i could use to do a complete reconfigure and use TrueNAS loded to a virtual hard disk for boot but PCI and physical disk to build my pools and data stores. However i would prefer to leave the initial config intact as much as possible in the event i decide to pull the disk and place them into another physical instance, i can do that.
any thoughts or guidance would be much appreciated. VM start it just load to the EFI shell and will not boot or show the PCI hardware though device manager
